A catch-all mailbox is one that collects all the messages sent to nonexistent email addresses. For instance, if your address is info@domain.com, but somebody misspells it and sends an email to inof@domain.com, it will still be received in the catch-all mailbox that you have created. Just one mailbox per domain name can have this feature enabled and thus you’ll never miss emails because the other party has an obsolete email address or has made a typographical error. The negative aspect of setting up a catch-all mailbox is that you may start receiving plenty of spam emails, but this problem can be resolved by using an anti-spam protection solution. It’s also essential to remember that a mailbox with an active catch-all functionality cannot redirect incoming email messages to a 3rd-party mailbox.

Catch-all Emails in Shared Hosting

You will be able to configure a catch-all mailbox without difficulty if you’ve got a shared hosting plan with our company. The Email Manager tool in our in-house created Hepsia Control Panel is feature-laden, yet remarkably user-friendly, and it will allow you to activate different options, including the catch-all one, with just a couple of clicks. All the email addresses that you’ve got will be displayed alphabetically in this section and to the right of each one you’ll notice a tiny "Catch-all" symbol. Clicking on it once will activate this feature, clicking on it once again will deactivate it. Since you can have just one such catch-all mailbox per domain name, our system will alert you if you already have a different one with this feature activated or if you’ve got activated email forwarding.

Catch-all Emails in Semi-dedicated Servers

The catch-all feature can be enabled without any effort in case you have a semi-dedicated server account with us. All the email addresses that you’ve set up with the domains hosted in the semi-dedicated account will be enumerated in the Hepsia hosting Control Panel’s Email Manager section and you’ll find a small logo handily located directly next to each one of them. With just one click of the mouse, you can enable or disable the catch-all option for any mailbox of your choosing on the condition that there isn't another mailbox under that same domain name with this option already activated and there isn't active email forwarding. Instead, you can right-click on a mailbox and activate this feature using the context menu that will pop up. If any of the prerequisites for configuring a catch-all mailbox is not met, our system will let you know, but will not replace or deactivate anything automatically.
